Characteristics

Frutex ramosus altitudine mihi ignota. Rami in partibus iunioribus pilis hyalinis glanduliferis dense puberuli, in partibus vetustioribus glabrescentes et denique cortice fusco rimoso obtecti. Folia alterna, rigide membranacea, sessilia, semiamplexicaulia, obovati-oblonga vel elliptica, 4-8 cm longa, 2-3.5 cm lata supremis sensim minoribus, apice acuta vel obtusa, in spinam fulvam 2-4 mm longam excurrentia, margine subundulata, leviter lobulata et dense spinosi-dentata spinis ei in apice similibus, supra et subtus pilis hyalinis glanduliferis brevibus puberula, subnitida. Capitula in apicibus ramorum pauca, ± aggregata, radiata, ligulis expansis 4-5 cm diam. Involucri squamae patentes, indumento foliis similes, spinosi-acuminatae, exteriores ovati-lanceolatae, 3-5 mm latae, margine ut folia suprema spinosi-dentatae, sequentes sensim angustiores et denique lineari-subulatae, 1-1.5 mm latae, minus dentatae et denique spinosi-ciliatae vel setulosi-ciliatae, mediae (10-)15-20 mm longae, ceterae paulum breviores. Lobi corollarum florum disci apice pilis hyalinis glanduliferis fasciculatis cr. 1 mm longis obsitae. Margines alveolarum receptaculi in dentes breves productae. Achaenia cr. 2-3 mm longa, pilis sericeis dense obtecta. Pappi squamae subbiseriatae, 10+10, lanceolati-subulatae, margine denticulatae, cr. 1-1.5 mm longae.
