Characteristics

Shrub, probably deciduous, up to 1 m high; young branches densely pubescent.. Leaves elliptic to slightly ovate, 6.5–10 cm long, 2.5–4.5 cm wide, base attenuate, margins entire to obscurely crenate, apex acute, pubescent to tomentose on both surfaces, eglandular; petiole 7–12 mm long.. Glomerules 3–5 together in cymes, terminal; individual glomerules globose and 9–10 mm across, with up to 100 capitula; capitula with 2 female and 2 male florets; phyllaries 2–2.5 mm long; paleae 3–4 mm long.. Flowers of unknown colour; female florets 1.5 mm long, glabrous; male florets 2.5 mm long, glabrous.. Achenes of female florets broadly obovoid, 2–2.5 mm long, with twin-hairs; pappus of 2 lateral scales 1 mm long and 0–1 shorter scales on the abaxial side.. Achenes of male florets 0.5–1 mm long, with pappus of 6–11 flat scales 0.5–1.5 mm long.
