Characteristics

Deciduous shrub 1–4 m high, sparsely branched; branchlets glabrous or nearly so.. Leaves coriaceous, greyish green, spatulate, 0.5–2.5 cm long, 0.5–1.5 cm wide, base cuneate, margins entire, apex retuse (rarely acute), glabrous and without glands; petiole 1–6 mm long.. Glomerules solitary and terminal on short side shoots or spurs, globose and 7–11 mm across, with up to 35 capitula; capitula with 2 female and 2 male florets; phyllaries 2.5–3.5 mm long; paleae 3.5–5 mm long.. Flowers ?white; female florets 1.5–2 mm long, glabrous, the lobes glandular; male florets 2–3 mm long, glandular.. Achenes of female florets narrowly obovoid, 1.5–2.5 mm long, with twin-hairs; pappus of 2 lateral scales 1–1.5 mm long and 2–5 shorter scales on the abaxial side.. Achenes of male florets 0.5–2 mm long, with pappus of 7–16 flat scales 0.5–2 mm long.
