Characteristics

Evergreen scrambling shrub 1.5–4.5 m long; young branches pubescent.. Leaves triangular, ovate or lanceolate, 2–10 cm long, 1–6.4 cm wide, base truncate to attenuate, margins entire or more usually sparsely dentate, especially near the base, apex acute to acuminate, pubescent and glandular on both surfaces; petiole 5–22 mm long.. Glomerules 1–3 together near the ends of branches, the individual glomerules globose and 10–18 mm across, with up to 50 capitula; capitula with 2(–3) female and 2 male/bisexual florets; phyllaries 4.5–6 mm long; paleae 5–7 mm long.. Flowers white to cream; female florets 2–3 mm long, glandular; male florets 3.5–4.5 mm long, glandular.. Achenes of female florets narrowly obovoid, 3–4 mm long, with twin-hairs; pappus of 8–12 flat scales 0.5–3 mm long.. Achenes of male florets 1–2 mm long, with pappus of ± 10 scales 0.5–3 mm long.
