Characteristics

Bushy herb 0.9 m tall; stems densely tomentose.. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate or subsessile, ovate, 3-6 cm long, 1.4-2 cm wide, base cuneate to rounded, margins crenulate-serrulate, apex obtuse and apiculate, finely softly pubescent above, densely white-tomentose beneath.. Capitula in dense terminal compound corymbiform cymes; involucres broadly campanulate, 7-9 mm long, 10-12 mm in diameter; phyllaries 4-5-seriate, closely imbricate, outer ovate, apiculate, densely pubescent, inner narrowly ovate, pubescent in upper part, acute, 9 mm long.. Florets 120-130; corolla purple, 6 mm long, lobes 2 mm long.. Achenes 1.7-2.3 mm long, 5-8-ribbed, glandular in between; pappus of few caducous bristles 1-2.5 mm long.
