Spikelets up to 30 x 2-8 mm, slightly laterally compressed; glumes unequal, shorter than spikelet, 5-9-nerved. Florets 5-22, bisexual; lemma entire, rounded on back, glabrous, 5-7-nerved, awn 4-8 mm long, straight; anther 2.5-3.0 mm long. Flowering time Nov.-Mar.
