Characteristics

Plants 100-600 mm tall; basal sheaths usually 2, inner up to 140 mm long, surface muricate; leaves (2-) 3 (-4), blade spreading, narrowly ovate, rarely narrowly lanceolate, up to 220 x c. 40 mm. Inflorescences subimbricate, oblong, 3-30-flowered, 30-100 mm long. Flowers c. 20 mm in diameter, mauve, often with deep purple dots on galea. Median sepal acuminate, 8-10 mm long, galea c. 3 mm deep and 1 mm broad; spur slender, base shortly conical, apex subclavate, frequently de-curved, 13-26 mm long; lateral sepals 8-13 mm long. Petals narrowly oblong from a slender basal limb, apically more or less truncate, base of the blade toothed to the rear. Lip c. 1 mm long. Anther c. 2 mm long, strongly upcurved; auricles pearly; rostellum c. 2 mm tall, central lobe finger-like.
