Characteristics

Shrub or small tree, 3–4 m tall.. Leaves 45–72 cm long; lateral leaflets ovate to elliptic, 8–15 cm long, 3.5–8 cm wide, base asymmetrically rounded to broadly cuneate, margin remotely serrate or repand, apex shortly acuminate with acute tip, thinly coriaceous, glabrous or sparsely ferruginous pubescent along main veins, gland-dots on or very close to margin or often forming tip of tooth; leaflets subsessile (usually towards the leaf apex) or with petiolules to 7 mm long, terminal petiolule 35–37 mm long; petiole and rachis ferruginous pubescent (particularly at the joints and towards the base) to glabrescent.. Inflorescence (male only seen) 38–55 cm long, slightly shorter than subtending leaf, spiciform; rachis ferruginous pubescent; flowers usually in glomerules.. Sepals 4(–5), triangular, 0.5–1 mm long, 0.75–1 mm wide, glabrous to glabrescent.. Petals 4(–5), round to broadly obovate, 1–2 mm long, 1–1.75 mm wide, glabrous or glabrescent.. Stamens 4(–5), 1–1.75 mm tall; anthers rotund, 0.5–0.75 mm long and wide.. Disc 0.75–1 mm in diameter.. Gynoecium absent in male flower.. Infructescence 13–50 cm long, rachis sparsely pubescent.. Fruits of 1–2 mericarps on fruiting pedicels 3–10 mm long; mericarps 14–18 mm long, 9–11 mm in diameter, acute at apex, glabrous; sarcocarp thin; endocarp deeply and reticulately wrinkled, hard.. Seed 12–13 mm long, 7–8 mm wide.
