Characteristics

Herb to 35 cm high, silky, with silvery or brown hairs, rarely almost glabrous. Leaves oblanceolate to obovate, 3–15 cm long, 3–45 mm wide, contracting gradually towards base, entire. Inflorescence bracts to 8 mm long; flowers to 7 mm long; flower bracts elliptic to oblong, c. 4 mm long. Calyx hairy; tube swollen apically when mature; lobes linear, to 5 mm long, with margins long-ciliate. Corolla tube narrow, to 5 mm long; lobes linear, to 5 mm long, spreading, bright blue. Style straight, exceeding corolla tube. Indusium exserted, erect, orbicular to broadly elliptic, c. 2 mm long, with scattered hairs; lips without bristles.
