Characteristics

Annual herb. Roots fibrous. Leaves strongly succulent, linear-subulate, 1-2.5 mm wide at midpoint, glaucous, glabrous. Scapes several to many, terete, erect but often flexuose towards apex. Perianth segments 3-5 mm long. Stamens 3 long, 3 short, ±erect, surrounding style; filaments all bearded a little below apex; anthers yellow, appearing dorsifixed, usually horizontally arched after dehiscence. Ovules 2 per locule; style erect, 1-1.5 mm long; stigma entire. Capsule 4-9 mm long; pedicel 4-17 mm long, erect. Seeds with membranous wing.
