Small perennial, acaulescent herb with tuberous base; tuber often pinkish, solitary, deltoid with several basal roots, 7-13 x 5-8 mm. Leaves erect, succulent, 4-6, on emerging from the tuber forming a tight basal cylinder 3-8 mm long and 1.2-2 mm in diameter but no basal fibrous sheaths present, slightly channelled on adaxial surface, linear-lanceolate, subterete to terete, acute, epidermis finely tuberculose with minute trichomes towards the leaf base and shiny-luminescent, 15-40 mm long x 1.2-3. broad. Inflorescence erect, usually solitary but occasionally a second present; peduncle purplish, 40-140 x 0.8 mm; raceme 20-60 mm long. Flowers sweetly scented, 6-14, bract membranous, narrowly triangular from a broad rounded base, acute, c. 5 mm long; all flowers spreading horizontally, pedicel 10 mm long; outer tepals elliptic, reflexed tightly clasping pedicel, upper surface light orange-green, apricot on underside, with almost no visible central vein, 7 x 2.5 mm, inner tepals obovate with crinkled, undulating margins, apex obtuse, mid-vein bright orange-yellow with a lighter margin, vein darker on underside, 8 x 5 mm. Filaments slender, dimorphic, 5-6 mm long with lowest recurved, outer with single circular group of hairs and inner with2 groups of hairs, hairs very fine with an apical glandular knob, c. 1.5 mm long; anthers oblong, yellow, 1 mm long; ovary pea-green, oblong, long, style yellow, fine, 4 mm long. Capsule broadly ellipsoidal, 3 x 2 mm; seed pyramidal, dark brown, deeply cleft, rugose, 1.4 x 1 mm.
