Characteristics

Small, leafless, terrestrial orchids with tuberous root system, occurring singly or in loose groups. Plants brownish or purplish. Raceme 1–few-flowered, with fleshy, loosely sheathing, leaf-like purplish bracts. Flowers resupinate, opening widely for 1–few days, white or pink internally, purplish externally. Dorsal sepal and labellum base forming a tube around column. Dorsal sepal free, broader than lateral sepals, incurved over column. Lateral sepals and petals of similar size, erect at base then curved forwards. Labellum hinged by a short claw to column base. Labellum lamina 3-lobed, thin-textured, striped, papillate on ventral and dorsal surfaces; lateral lobes incurved around column; midlobe small, apex papillate. Callus of two plate-like ridges, papillate. Column slender, curved, narrowly winged. Pollinia 2, clavate, yellow, no viscidium.
