Tree, 6-20 m tall, 15-30 cm d.b.h. Leaves opposite, glabrous, clustered at ends of branchlets, obovate to elliptic or oblong, 5-10 cm long, 1.8-5.0 cm wide, bluntly short-acuminate, acute and decurrent at base; petioles 0.3-0.8 cm long; stipules connate into a triangular axillary ligule, 2.0-2.5 mm long. Pseudoracemes terminal, to 8 cm long; axis, pedicels, bracts, and sepals ferruginous appressed-pubescent; bracts ovate, 1.5-2.0 mm long; bracteoles narrowly ovate, ca. 1.5 mm long; pedicels to 8 mm long. Flowers many, pink, ca. 1.5 cm in diam.; sepals 5, triangular, ca. 2.2 mm long, 2.5 mm wide, each bearing 2 oblong glands which are reflexed at the apex; petals 5, pink, glabrous, clawed, the blade suborbicular, ca. 6 mm in diam., concave, the margin irregular; stamens 10, subequal, the filaments ca. 1.8 mm long, pilose at the base, the anthers introrse, non-alate, ca. 1 mm long, the connective with a thickened, long, exserted appendage; ovary glabrous, ca. 2 mm long, the styles 3, distinct, ca. 3 mm long. Drupes ovoid, ca. 1 cm long, green (immature).
