Byrsonima sericea Dc.

A tree. It loses many leaves during the year. The crown is dense and oval. The tree grows 6-16 m tall. The trunk can be 30-70 cm across. The fruit are green and about 8 mm across.

Deciduous forests in both primary and secondary formations, growing in dense forest as well as the forest edges, preferring clay and other fertile soils along the sides of rivers and creeks. Also found in coastal forests, often as a shrub.

The fruit pulp is eaten raw and also used for drinks.

Plants can be grown from seeds. Seeds germinate poor;y and may take 5-7 weeks to grow. They are best put in a nursery then transplanted.
