Characteristics

Leaf lanceolate, 60–120 × 5–10 mm. Flower stem 120–300 mm tall, wiry, 1 ( or 2)-flowered. Flowers 40–60 mm across, cream to yellowish with pink to reddish stripes and suffusions, with a faint, warm smell; labellum cream with a dark red apex, calli dark red, column translucent with red markings; sepals with short, thick, red to brown (rarely yellow) clubs 6–10 × 1 mm; petals lacking clubs. Dorsal sepal erect, 25–40 × 2.5–3 mm. Lateral sepals stiffly spreading horizontally, 25–40 × 3.5–4.5 mm, divergent. Petals similarly arranged, 20–25 × 2–2.3 mm. Labellum stiffly hinged, 10–13 × 7–9 mm; margins with 7–10 pairs of purplish red teeth to 1.2 mm long; tip recurved to inrolled. Basal calli 6–8, c. 0.8 mm long. Lamina calli to 1 mm long, maroon, in 6 rows. Column 10–13 × 4–5 mm, broadly winged; basal glands c. 1 mm long, globose, yellow.
