Characteristics

Leaf linear, 100–300 × 6–20 mm, pale green, base purple-blotched. Flower stem 120–350 mm tall, sturdy, densely hairy, 1–3-flowered. Flowers 30–50 mm across, yellowish with maroon bands, suffusions and markings, sometimes mostly red with pale marginal bands; sepals and petals with large flat furrowed yellowish brown clubs 5–17 × 2.5 mm. Dorsal sepal erect, 25–40 × 2–3 mm. Lateral sepals stiffly downswept, 25–40 × 4–5 mm, divergent. Petals strongly upswept beside dorsal sepal, 20–30 × 2–3 mm. Labellum 12–16 × 7–12 mm, dark red; margins with numerous, spreading, maroon teeth to 4 mm long; tip recurved. Basal calli c. 2 mm long, linear. Lamina calli to 1.5 mm long, maroon, in 4 or 6 rows, with a wide central gap. Column 10–15 × 7–9 mm, maroon with yellow markings; basal glands c. 1.5 mm long, club-shaped, yellow with red markings.
