Plants solitary or in tufts. Leaf linear, 60–100 × 3–6 mm. Flower stem 150–300 mm tall, 1–3-flowered. Flowers 60–80 mm across, dark red, pinkish red or cream to creamy yellow with dark red markings; sepals and petals with long, thin, glandular, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 50–90 × 2 mm. Lateral sepals spreading near base then pendulous, 50–90 × 2–3 mm. Petals similarly arranged, 40–70 × 1–2 mm. Labellum 8–11 × 6–8 mm, white with prominent, deep red stripes and blotches or wholly dark red; margins with numerous short, blunt teeth; tip recurved. Calli to 1 mm long, anvil-shaped, creamy yellow to creamy white, 12–14 pairs in 2 rows. Column 8–11 × 3–4 mm, cream with red markings.
Widespread; growing in Eucalyptus wandoo woodland, tall shrubland, and sheoak communities in freely draining sands and laterite; also on granite outcrops in inland areas.
