Leaf lanceolate, 100–200 × 5–15 mm, densely hairy. Flower stem 200–400 mm tall, sturdy, densely hairy, 1–3-flowered. Flowers 50–80 mm across, reclining, greenish yellow with red central stripes, heavily marked and suffused with maroon; sepals with thin, light brown clubs 6–20 × 0.8 mm; petals lacking clubs. Dorsal sepal erect, 45–80 × 3–4 mm. Lateral sepals decurved then strongly upswept, 35–75 × 3–5 mm, closely parallel. Petals decurved, 35–55 × 2–3 mm. Labellum delicately hinged, 20–25 × 20–25 mm, green with a yellowish green central patch and maroon apex; margins with 5 or 6 pairs of spreading comb-teeth to 8 mm long; tip recurved. Calli to 5 mm long, maroon, in 4 densely crowded rows onto base of maroon patch. Column 13–15 × 6–7 mm, translucent with red markings; basal glands c. 4 mm long, club-shaped, shiny yellow with a red stalk.
Widespread and common; growing in open forest, white gum woodland, sheoak thickets, and on granite outcrops in a range of freely draining soils.
