Plants single or in tufts. Leaf 60–150 × 2–4 mm. Flower stem 200–450 mm long, 1–4-flowered. Flowers 30–50 mm across, blood red all over; lateral sepals and petals with long, thin, entangling, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 50–100 × 2–3 mm. Lateral sepals horizontal to obliquely decurved at base then dangling, 50–100 × 2.5–3.5 mm. Petals similarly arranged, 50–100 × 2–3 mm. Labellum 10–15 × 6–10 mm, wholly red with darker lines, sometimes with a pale base; margins with short, curved, bluntly pointed teeth; tip recurved. Calli anvil-shaped, red, 6–15 pairs in 2 rows. Column 7–9 × 3–4 mm, red.
