Characteristics

Plants often in tufts. Leaf 70–120 × 24 mm. Flower stem 60–220 mm tall, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 50–80 mm across, dark pinkish red to dark red with cream or maroon markings; sepals and petals with long, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 25–40 × 2–2.5 mm. Lateral sepals spreading horizontally then decurved to hanging, 30–40 × 2–3 mm. Petals similarly arranged, 25–40 × 2–2.5 mm. Labellum 9–12 × 6–8 mm, creamy white with red radiating lines; margins with short, forward facing, blunt teeth; tip recurved. Calli anvil-shaped, reddish, 5–12 pairs in 2 rows. Column 8–10 × 3–4 mm, reddish.
