Characteristics

Leaf 60–120 × 5–10 mm. Flower stem 150–350 mm tall, 1-flowered. Flowers 80–100 mm across, smell like hot metal, creamy to yellowish, sometimes with reddish lines; sepals and petals with long, thick, blackish, glandular tips (no clubs). Dorsal sepal erect, 40–70 × 3–4 mm. Lateral sepals stiffly spreading with drooping tips, 40–70 × 4–5 mm, widely divergent. Petals similarly arranged, 35–60 × 3–3.5 mm. Labellum 16–20 × 10–12 mm, white to cream or creamy yellow with dark purplish lines; margins with numerous reddish or purplish teeth to 2 mm long; tip recurved. Basal calli 8–10, crowded, c. 1 mm long, yellow. Lamina calli to 2 mm long, purplish, in 4, 6 or 8 rows nearly to labellum apex. Column 15–18 × 6–8 mm, translucent with red markings; basal glands c. 1.2 mm long, yellow with red hairs.
