Leaf 40–160 × 4–7 mm. Flower stem 140–200 mm tall, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 50–70 mm across, with a strong, unpleasant smell, opening creamy yellow, paler with age, with pale brown markings; sepals and petals with long, very thin, dark, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 45–90 × 2–3 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely decurved then hanging, 45–90 × 3–4 mm. Petals horizontal then decurved, 40–80 × 2.5–3 mm. Labellum 12–16 × 10–13 mm, cream to yellowish with pale brown lines and blotches; margins with short, triangular teeth; tip recurved. Calli anvil-shaped, cream to yellowish, 7–14 pairs in 2 rows. Column 9–11 × 5–7 mm, yellowish.
Relatively widespread from coast to inland localities; growing near streams, in seepage areas around granite outcrops, on moist flats in flat-topped yate woodland and in sheoak thickets, in moist to freely draining sand and clay loam.
