Leaf 50–120 × 10–15 mm, pale green. Flower stem 100–200 mm tall, 1–6-flowered. Flowers 20–25 × 25–30 mm, with unpleasant odour like sour milk, white to cream, externally rusty brown; labellum cream; calli cream. Dorsal sepal 12–15 × 2.5–3.5 mm, erect. Lateral sepals 13–16 × 4.5–6 mm. Petals 10–13 × 3–4 mm. Labellum 6–7.5 × 6–7.5 mm; lateral lobes with short marginal teeth; midlobe curved with short marginal teeth. Calli in 2 converging rows. Column 6–7 × 2 mm, narrowly winged.
Widespread and locally common, especially in coastal areas, but also extending to inland ranges. It grows in seasonally wet sandy or peaty soil in shrubby forest and on granite outcrops; less commonly in freely draining sites.
