Characteristics

Leaf lanceolate, 60–120 × 5–1 0mm. Flower stem 150–300 mm tall, wiry, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 50–70 mm across, with a very strong smell of burnt plastic, greenish cream to cream with pink to reddish stripes and suffusions; labellum greenish cream with a dark red apex; calli dark red; column translucent with red markings; sepals with short, thick, red clubs 5–12 × 1 mm; petals without clubs. Dorsal sepal erect, 25–40 × 2–2.5 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely deflexed, 30–45 × 3–4 mm, divergent. Petals spreading to obliquely deflexed, 20–30 × 2–2.5 mm. Labellum stiffly hinged, 10–13 × 7–9 mm; margins with 8–11 pairs of purplish red teeth to 2.3 mm long; tip recurved. Basal calli 6–8, c. 1 mm long. Lamina calli to 1 mm long, crowded in 4 or 6 rows. Column 11–13 × 4–5 mm, broadly winged; basal glands c. 1 mm long, globose, yellow.
