Characteristics

Plants single or clumping. Leaf 60–150 × 3–5 mm. Flower stem 200–400 mm tall, 1–3-flowered. Flowers 50–100 mm across, wholly dark red or pinkish, sometimes with paler stripes; sepals and petals with long, brownish, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal 60–100 × 1.5–2.5 mm. Lateral sepals spreading then decurved to hanging, 60–100 × 2–3 mm. Petals similarly arranged, 60–110 × 2–2.5 mm. Labellum 8–11 × 5–8 mm, cream with red lines and markings; margins with short, blunt teeth; tip recurved. Calli anvil-shaped, cream, often with reddish markings, 7–12 pairs in 2 rows. Column 7–10 × 2.5–3 mm, pinkish red.
