Leaf lanceolate, 50–80 × 5–8 mm. Flower stem 100–170 mm tall, 1-flowered. Flowers 50–60 mm across, pale pink to bright pink, scented; sepals and petals with dark brown to blackish, thread-like tips (no clubs). Dorsal sepal erect, 30–50 × 2–3 mm. Lateral sepals spreading to obliquely deflexed, 30–50 × 4.5–5.5 mm, nearly parallel. Petals similarly arranged, 30–40 × 2.5–3.5 mm. Labellum 10–14 × 8–10 mm, pink; margins with pink teeth to 2.2 mm long; apex recurved. Calli to 1.5 mm long, pink, in 4 or 6 rows to base of midlobe. Column 9.5–12 × 4.5–5 mm, deep pink; basal glands c. 0.7 mm long, ovoid, yellow.
Now highly localised and rarely seen; growing among shrubs and tussocks on dry slopes in open forest dominated by red box and red stringybark in shallow, freely draining, stony loam.
