Characteristics

Leaf narrowly linear-lanceolate, 50–110 × 2–3 mm, sparsely hairy. Flower stem 60–160 mm tall, thin, wiry, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 45–60 mm across, with a hot [?metal] smell, dark red, shiny; sepals and petals with long, darker red, very thin, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 25–60 × 1.5–2 mm. Lateral sepals obliquely decurved, 25–60 × 2–2.5 mm. Petals erect, 25–60 × 1.5–2 mm. Labellum 5.5–8 × 4.5–5 mm, blood red, sometimes base or central parts whitish; margins with 5–10 pairs of short, broad teeth; tip recurved. Calli anvil-shaped, red, 6–9 pairs in 2 rows. Column 4.5–5.5 × 2–2.2 mm, blood red.
