Characteristics

Plants solitary or in small tufts. Leaf linear, 50–130 × 2–7 mm. Flower stem 170–350 mm tall, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 80–14  across, cream to pale yellow with maroon stripes, spots and blotches; sepals and petals with long, glandular, purplish black, filamentous tips. Dorsal sepal erect, 60–80 × 2–3 mm. Lateral sepals spreading stiffly outwards near base then obliquely decurved, 70–90 × 2–4 mm. Petals spreading stiffly then upcurved (when fresh) or decurved (with age), 40–80 × 1–4 mm. Labellum stiffly hinged, 14–18 × 6–9 mm, cream with prominent, deep red stripes and blotches; margins with numerous short, blunt teeth; tip recurved. Calli to 1.5 mm long, anvil-shaped, creamy yellow, glossy, 10–16 pairs in 2 rows. Column 10–12 × 4–6 mm, yellow with red markings.
