Leaf 100–200 × 5–20 mm. Flower stem 250–600 mm tall, 1–4-flowered. Flowers 80–100 mm across, with a sweetish scent, white or creamy yellow with reddish lines, sometimes mainly red; sepals and petals with long, moderately thick, yellowish, glandular tips (no clubs). Dorsal sepal erect, 55–100 × 3–6 mm. Lateral sepals spreading at base then stiffly downcurved, 55–100 × 3–6 mm, divergent. Petals similarly arranged, 45–80 × 2–4 mm. Labellum stiffly hinged, 16–30 × 10–14 mm, white; margins with numerous erect to spreading, thin, red-or white-tipped teeth to 7 mm long; tip recurved. Basal calli 4–6, c. 2 mm long, linear, erect. Lamina calli to 2 mm long, white, cream or reddish, in 4–8 rows. Column 13–22 × 7–10 mm, greenish yellow with maroon markings; basal glands c. 1.2 mm long, club-shaped, yellow.
Locally common in a range of seasonally moist habitats; often growing in coastal heath and scrub, but also Banksia woodland, shrubby jarrah forest, and karri forest, in damp to moist sand or laterite; around Perth it often occurs in moist areas near streams, granite outcrop run-off areas or in winter-wet swamps.
