Characteristics

Leaf lanceolate, 60–100 × 8–12 mm, densely covered with short hairs to impart a grizzled appearance. Flower stem 120–200 mm tall, wiry, densely hairy, 1-flowered. Flowers 30–40 mm across, greenish cream with fine red streaks, labellum cream with red stripes, apex red, sometimes wholly red, calli dark red, column translucent with red markings; sepals with short, thick, flat, red clubs 2–6 × 1 mm; petals lacking clubs. Dorsal sepal erect, 20–30 × 1.5–2 mm. Lateral sepals stiffly decurved, 25–30 × 3 mm, divergent. Petals spreading to stiffly decurved, 20–25 × 2 mm. Labellum stiffly hinged, 11–13 × 7–8 mm; margins with 4–8 pairs of thick, red teeth to 1 mm long; tip recurved. Basal calli 6–8, c. 1 mm long. Lamina calli to 1.5 mm long, thick, flat-topped, crowded in 4 rows. Column 11–13 × 4–5 mm, broadly winged; basal glands c. 1.5 mm long, club-shaped, yellow with red base.
