Leaf lanceolate, 100–180 × 8–12 mm, hairy. Flower stem 200–600 mm tall, hairy, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 80–120 mm across, white to cream; sepals and petals with moderately thick, brownish, glandular, thread-like tips (no clubs). Dorsal sepal erect or recurved, 60–100 × 2–3.5 mm. Lateral sepals spreading with drooping tips, 60–100 × 4.5–7.5 mm, divergent. Petals similarly arranged, 50–80 × 3–6 mm. Labellum delicately hinged, 16–25 × 10–15 mm, white, cream or pinkish; margins with 9–13 pairs of thin, reddish or purplish teeth with white tips to 3.5 mm long, shorter on midlobe; tip recurved. Basal calli 4–6, c. 1.5 mm long, erect, white. Lamina calli to 2 mm long, reddish or purplish, in 4 or 6 rows well onto midlobe. Column incurved, 11–15 × 5–5.5 mm, mostly transparent with red flecks; basal glands c. 1.3 mm long, ovoid, yellow with red hairs.
Widespread and locally common, especially in coastal and near-coastal areas; growing in heathland, heathy forest and open forest, in freely draining or moisture-retentive sands and loams.
