Characteristics

Tree to 33 m high. Terminal bud plump to sublinear, 6.5– 11 mm long; uppermost axillary buds to 3.5 (–6.5) mm long pointed. Twigs puberulous to strigose. Leaves: petiole 1–2 mm wide, glabrous, farinose or tomentose; lamina elliptic to obovate, 4.7–8.8 cm long, 2.2–3.9 cm wide, base cuneate, apex acute or obtuse to rounded, midvein from above lamina base to midpoint raised, with or without raised margins, glabrous or strigose above. Inflorescence axes puberulous to tomentose or pilose, unbranched. Pedicel (3–) 5–7 mm long, tomentose. Flowers 10–15 mm diam.; tepals 8, outer tepals ovate; stamens 95–140, 3.3–3.7 mm long, anthers oblong, 1.5–2 mm long; style 1.5–2 mm long; stigma peltate. Fruit ovoid to ellipsoidal, apex acute, 28–35 mm long, 23–38 mm wide.
