Petioles less than half the length of the leaf–laminas, not coiled; leaf–laminas 2·5–10 x 1·5–9 cm., ± triangular to ovate, acute with cordate to truncate base, obtusely to sharply dentate to doubly dentate or doubly serrate.
Stems erect and scandent or pendent, up to several m. long, dichotomously branched, usually with a fine purplish mottling.
Hypanthium obconical, distinctly 6–ribbed, with the ribs projecting into the calyx–lobes.
Calyx–lobes 1·8–3·8 x 0·5–1 cm., acute to acuminate, free, entire, erect or spreading.
Corolla 4·3–7·6 cm. long, funnel–shaped, orange to orange–red with darker venation.
Seeds 2·0–2·6 x 0·6–0·8 mm., elliptic–oblong, dark brown, finely striate.
Stamens with broad shield–like filament–bases; anthers 5·5–10 mm. long.
Epiphytic or terrestrial usually glaucous herb.
Root thick, often with a corky surface layer.
