Spikelet 14-23 mm long, 2-3 flowered; glume 14-23 mm long, 1-nerved; lemma 3-6 mm long, lobes 4-6 mm long, lobes awned, a row of long, silky hairs 10-11 mm long in tufts across the back above, glabrous below; central awn 14-17 mm long, occasionally slightly contorted at base and then geniculate; anther 2.0-3.0 mm long.
