Characteristics

Plants stout, acaulescent. Leaves long-petiolate; blade broadly flabellate, di-vided into 3 wedge-shaped segments, each in turn subdivided into numerous acuminate segments, 0.8-1.5 m. broad and long; petioles 1.5-2.0 m. long. Pedun-cles about 0.5 m. long; spathes 4, congested immediately below the spadix, the outer pair green, tipped with a small digitate blade 15-25 cm. long, the inner pair white, petalaceous; spadix broadly cylindrical, 9-10 cm. long, 3.0-3.5 cm. thick; fruiting perigonial lobes broadly oblong-trigonal, 2.5-3.0 cm. long, much sur-passing the pistils, somewhat foliaceous and spreading.
