Characteristics

Parasitic, twining herb, stems filiform, ± glabrous or rusty pubescent; adhering to hosts by uniseriate, elliptic haustoria 1-2 mm long. Leaves 0.2-3.0 mm long, scale-like. Flowers globose-ovoid, 3 mm long. Tepals in 2 rows of 3, small, rounded; outer ones smaller, glabrescent, ciliate; inner obtuse, glabrous outside, puberulous to pubescent inside. Stamens 9 fertile ones, 6 outer ± 2 mm long, 3 inner ± 1.4 mm long; staminodes ovate-triangular, sessile. Ovary obovoid. Fruit ellipsoid, fulvous pubescent or eventually quite glabrous.
