Inflorescences axillary, usually 1–2-flowered but in robust plants each pedicel may bear two flowers so that the inflorescence becomes 4-flowered; pedicels 2.2–6 cm long in flower, longer in fruit.
Flowers large; sepals long-acuminate, appressed pubescent outside; petals yellow, up to 18 × 10 mm.
Stems generally annual, terete with slight pale ridges decurrent from the stipule bases, glabrous.
Ovary densely appressed-pubescent; stigma terminal, fringed with hairs.
Pods sparsely appressed-pubescent; mature pods and seeds not seen.
Perennial erect suffruticose herb from a slender woody rootstock.
