Characteristics

A small deeply rooted tufted perennial about 4 cm tall, woody, densely hispidulous-pubescent with reflexed hairs; root woody, elongated and extending straight downward; leaves decussate-opposite, crowded, petiolate; petioles 0.75 to 1.25 cm long; blades subcoriaceous, triangular-ovate, 2.5-3 cm long, about 1.5 cm wide, obtuse at apex, 7-9-serrate or-pinnatifid (with obtuse lobes), attenuate at the base, densely hispidulous; secondaries 6-8 per side, obscure; inflorescence spicate, terminal, about 1 cm long, crowded, few-flowered; bracts linear, 3-4 mm long, obtuse at apex, hispidulous; bracteoles setulose, 2 mm long, hispidulous; flowers sessile; corolla not seen; fruiting-calyx gibbous, 7-9 mm long, hispidulous outside, glabrous within; schizocarp consisting of 2 coherent cocci, oblong, 4-5 mm long, somewhat curved on the posterior face, with an anterior areole.
