Leaves linear, 1.5–5 cm. long, 1.5–3 mm. wide, opposite or on lower stems, fasciculate on very short shoots, acute at the apex, cuneate at the base, sessile, almost imperceptibly puberulous.. Spikes 10–14 cm. long, fairly densely flowered above, laxer below, slender; bracts lanceolate, 2.5–3 mm. long, 1 mm. wide, obscurely ciliolate; pedicels obsolete.. Calyx tubular, 5–6 mm. long, glabrous, scarcely oblique, with very short teeth.. Corolla cream or yellow; tube curved, slender, 1–1.2 cm. long, glabrous; lobes ovate or rounded, ± 1.5 mm. long, ± 1 mm. wide, obtuse.. Style ± 3 mm. long.. Fruit black, of 2 linear nutlets, ± 6 mm. long, 0.7 mm. wide, rounded at the apex, reticulately nerved.
