Low, succulent shrub, 70-90 mm tall, with a stout thick woody ± 15 mm wide rootstock, branches ascending, internodes up to 7 mm diam. at base. Leaves trigonous, 10-13 x 3 mm, up to 4 mm thick, keel with a prominent recurved tooth below apex, margins occasionally with a tooth on each side, epidermal cells raised. Flowers solitary, 20-24 mm diam., yellow, on branches protruding above plant. Fruit without closing bodies, valve wings very broad, 5-locular.
