Inflorescence of 5–7 digitate loose or spreading spikes 9–10 cm. long.. Spikelets 4–6-flowered, 4–6-awned; lower glume 2 mm. long; upper glume 2.5–4 mm. long including the awn-point; lowest lemma ovate-elliptic in side view, 2.5 mm. long, pallid, long-ciliate along the keel, margins and flanks, the awn 12 mm. long, purplish; callus rounded, ciliate; 2nd lemma 1.75 mm. long, projecting from the side of the lowest lemma, similar in shape and pubescence, its awn 8–11 mm. long; 3rd–6th lemmas progressively smaller, ovate-elliptic glabrous awned scales.
