Characteristics

Spikelets 3.1–3.6 mm long (excluding the awn), ovate; glumes equal in length but dissimilar in shape, the inferior ± lanceolate with strongly thickened keel curved at the base, acute at the apex, the superior broader, the keel not curved at the base, the midrib prolonged into a scabrid awn 0.2–0.7 mm long; fertile lemma 2–3 mm long, ovate-acute, stiffly hairy on the keel and lateral nerves, glabrous on the back, with a subapical awn 0.8–1.6 mm long; distal lemma 1.6–2 mm long, glabrous, awnless.
