Caule glabro, ramoso; foliis tri-quinquefidis, laciniis oblongis, lanceolatis. Caulis (ex fragmentis) fruticosus, nonnihil ramosus, pedalis.Folia alterna distantia, petiolis longiora, glabra, in tres aut quinque lacinias.
Perennial herb or shrub, 0.09-1.00 m high. Leaves 3-5-palmatisect. Stipules 2.5 mm long, filiform or very narrowly linear. Flowers yellow with purple centre.
Shrublet or perennial herb with woody rootstock, up to c. 1 m. tall but sometimes as short as 9 cm.; stems minutely stellate-pubescent or nearly glabrous.
Calyx 10–15 mm. long; lobes elongate-triangular, nigro-punctate, somewhat foliaceous at the tips, joined for 3–5 mm. at the base.
Flowers 3·5–4 cm. in diam., yellow with purple centre, solitary, axillary; peduncle 2–6 cm. long.
Epicalyx of up to 12 bracts; bracts 2–3 mm. long, filiform to very narrowly linear, caducous.
Staminal tube 8 mm. long; free parts of filaments 1–1·5 mm. long.
