Characteristics

Small tree to 15 m high, evergreen, dioecious, rarely monoecious. Leaves: petiole 30–125 mm long; lamina elliptic, obovate or ovate, coriaceous, 95–300 mm long, 40–145 mm wide, discolorous; base cuneate to rounded; margins sinuate to crenulate-dentate, with 13–40 teeth per side; tip acute to shortly acuminate; venation comprising 6–8 lateral veins and prominent tertiary reticulate veins; glands 1 or 2 at lamina base. Male flowers: pedicels 1–2.5 mm long; sepals 3, lanceolate-ovate, 1.5–1.8 mm long; stamens 16–24. Female flowers: pedicels 1–4 mm long; sepals 3, lanceolate-ovate, 1.8–2.5 mm long.
