Characteristics

Leaf-lamina up to 12·5 × 5·6 cm., coriaceous, narrowly obovate to elliptic, apex obtuse, margin entire or undulate, base cuneate, midrib prominent below, nerves in c. 10 pairs, venation reticulate but not very prominent on both sides; petiole up to 6·5 cm. long, slightly swollen and minutely stellate-puberulous at base and apex; stipules c. 3 mm. long, caducous, subulate, stellate-puberulous.

Flowers in axillary fascicles on 1–3-year-old branches; pedicels c. 1 cm. long, 3-nate, pubescent.
Large tree with ash-coloured bark; young branchlets stellate-puberulous but soon glabrous.
Seed c. 1·75 × 1·5 cm., oblong-ellipsoid; testa shining brown; cotyledons flat, thick.
