Characteristics

Clusters up to 100 mm diam. Leaf-pairs succulent, up to 20 mm long, 10 mm diam., often half that, perfectly cylindrical, apex convex, vaguely windowed. Epidermis yellowish green, never reddening, covered with translucent, miniature windows which ± coalesce apically. Flowers diurnal, produced from current leaf-pair, petals magenta, inner filaments forming a yellow ring.
