Characteristics

Clusters up to 100 mm diam. Leaf-pairs succulent, up to 12 mm long, 6 mm diam., cylindrical to nearly globose, apex convex, slightly bilobed and faintly keeled. Epidermis dark grey-green, often reddish green toward spring, covered with long, erect, glassy hairs. Flowers diurnal, petals narrow, magenta or rarely white, anthers and stigmas recessed.
