Characteristics

Plant tufted or proliferous. Leaves flat, covered by a pale grey or yellowish mealy tomentum, rarely abraded to semi-glabrous; margins often ciliate. Inflorescence globular in bud, sometimes becoming rather loose on a bifid rachis; scape simple, rarely with a small axillary scape emergent from an upper bract, 12-45 cm long; bracts fleshy, grey, tomentose. Perianth 5-13 mm long, golden yellow outside and in; lobes 2.5-7.5 mm long. Stamens erect; anthers 1.4-5 mm long; filaments 0.5-1.5 mm long.
