Characteristics

Tufts small. Leaves flat, 8-20 cm long, 0.7-2 mm wide, loosely villous with soft hairs, the hairs often silvery white and sometimes ±spreading, 0.9-1.5 mm long. Inflorescence capitate, many-flowered; scape white-tomentose when young, 5-12 cm long, with 1 or 2 leaf-like bracts 7-15 mm long. Perianth 12-15 mm long, yellow, ageing purplish red; lobes 5-7 mm long, tomentose outside and inside. Stamens biseriate; filaments 1.5 mm long; anthers 2 mm long. Style ±equal to outer stamens.
