Corynéphore divariqué (fr), Corynéphore fasciculé (fr)

Species

Angiosperms > Poales > Poaceae > Corynephorus

Characteristics

Plant to 60 cm tall. Leaves: ligule 6–10 mm long, membranous; blade flat, convolute when dried, 0.5–1.5 mm wide, strongly ribbed and glabrous on adaxial surface, shallowly ribbed and sparsely scabrous on abaxial surface. Inflorescence an open panicle, with spikelets concentrated toward branch tips in dense groups. Spikelets 2.8–3.7 mm long; rachilla prolonged above upper floret but obscure, hirsute; rachilla internode relatively long, hirsute. Glumes opening widely at maturity, with lemma awns slightly shorter to slightly emerging. Lemma 1.5–1.8 mm long, acute to acuminate, sometimes minutely bidentate, microscaberulous all over; awn twice as long as body of lemma, articulated slightly below lemma apex, gradually enlarged in upper half to clavate tip, scaberulous on clavate part. Stamens 2; anthers c. 0.5 mm long.
More
Annual, 200-550 mm high; culms solitary or loosely tufted. Leaf blade 50-120 x 1-2 mm. Spikelet about 3 mm long; hairs at base of floret not longer than 1/4 the lemma length; lemma awn basal, usually about as long as the glumes, divided into lower dark-coloured column and upper whitish clavate limb, with ring of short, thick hairs at junction.
Annual to 55 cm. Leaves linear, rolled. Spikelets in a panicle, ± 3 mm long, lemma awn basal.
